Thàmus cultural network
An itinerary aimed to discover the monuments and places of the culture of Sassari. The name Thàmus comes from the union between the ancient name of the city, Thatari, and the word "museum", enclosing in six letters the identity, culture and history of Sassari.
The symbol of the Thàmus cultural network is inspired by the decoration of the ceiling of the entrance hall of the Civic Theater, which is located inside the Palazzo di Città (Civic Palace).
The Thàmus cultural network suggests to the visitor an itinerary that involves the most representative buildings and monuments of the city's history, a civic network that offers an interesting interpretation useful for fully understanding the identity of Sassari.
The civic network develops around the City Museum, consisting of three locations: the Palazzo di Città, the Palazzo Ducale, with the Rooms and Cellars of the Duke, and the Palazzo della Frumentaria (temporarily closed), home to temporary exhibitions intended to host the museum of the Feast of the Candlesticks.
In addition to the City Museum, the network involves important archaeological sites and buildings that tell the historical vicissitudes and urban metamorphoses of the city and the territory over the centuries: the Aragonese Castle with the Barbacane, (temporarily closed) the Rosello Fountain, the Palazzo of the Insinuation, the Palazzo d'Usini, the Palazzo dell'Infermeria San Pietro.
In the extra-urban area it is possible to visit archaeological areas of considerable interest: the pre-Nuragic altar of Monte d'Accoddi, unique of its kind in the whole Mediterranean basin, and the domus de janas of Montalè in Li Punti.
